August 30, 2023Postponement of e-invoicing adoption in France
At the end of July 2023, the French government announced that the mandatory adoption of e-invoicing and e-reporting will be postponed.
The new date has not yet been announced. At the same time, the Authority assured that work in this direction is continuing all the time and is intended to provide companies with maximum guarantees of a fully successful transition to electronic invoicing.
As it is widely known, France like many European countries is gradually implementing e-invoicing obligations. At this moment, electronic invoices are mandatory for transactions with public administration (B2G) - from January 2020.
The next steps in implementing this process (for sales) were expected to be as follows:
July 2024 (already postponed as of 28 July): mandatory for large taxpayers
January 2025: mandatory for a medium-sized companies
January 2026: mandatory for small companies
As it was initially stated, all companies should be also able to receive electronic invoices by July 1, 2024.
The new announcement has now cancelled the above timeline, and the updates should be announced during the debates for the Finance Act for 2024.
We will be constantly monitoring all changes, so that our customers can prepare properly for the upcoming processes.
The official guidelines can be found here.
